Toowoomba flower festival

For years my ma has always wanted to go to the flower festival. This year, we finally made it!

 

 

Thoughts

we all grow up somewhere...it isn't so much the place where we were born as it is the place that we come of age

the place where our strengths and our weaknesses get exposed

where our interests and prejudices get discovered and developed

a series of small worlds that brought us to where and who we are today

worlds for the most part, we couldn't wait to get done with and move on from

in my case, i got out and went alot farther than alot of people thought i would

i've been to alot of interesting places in my life

but recently i've been starting to think whether i grew up in one.

This years eid greeting card

Like those who pose wearing dorky sweaters around fireplaces for christmas, i pose with inflatable balloon flowers in fancy shopping mall seating arrangements for eid.

I hope everyone had a wonderful eid. ours was all about strawberry pancakes for breakfast, which we stuck right into before i remembered that i'd taken an ode to blog and thus, should be taking photos of everything sweet i eat. :p

Freshly baked pita bread

I've been using this recipe at the moment for pita bread. I'm such a messy baker but it's worked a treat everytime!

Domesticated

Today's tea of the day made in...

my milk pan! Gift from a dear friend. I'm officially domesticated.... because this makes me super happy. I shall think of her every time I make tea!

Birthday flowers!

I didn't have a vase so they went into my empty tea jar! i just realised they need more water (and i need to buy more tea)!!!

Mama's peach tree

On my weekly visit to my mama's, i found we had a beautiful peach tree in the garden. Since when???!!! 

Warm honey tea cake

This is a strictly no fuss recipe. Just a ridiculously quick, easy to make cake that's perfect with a cup of tea or vanilla ice cream. The messier the presentation the better!

Ingredients

1 cup of flour

4 teaspoons of baking powder

1/3 cup of sugar

1 egg

½ cup of milk

3 tablespoons of melted butter

3 tablespoons honey

3 tablespoons of butter

1.   Preheat oven to 180 degrees

2.   Grease a baking dish and line with paper (I use a 20cm round one)

3.   Sift flower & baking powder in a large bowl

4.   Add sugar & mix

5.   Beat together egg and milk and add to dry ingredients

6.   Add melted butter and stir gently (don’t overmix)

7.   Bake for 30 minutes

8.   Melt the honey and remaining butter in a small pan

9.   Prick holes in hot cake with  a fork and pour on top
